Couples Therapy
Being in a committed relationship with a partner can be one of the most exciting and challenging experiences. SOZO is committed to offering our couples quality and effective treatments that will help them move from struggling to thriving. Our specialized couples’ therapists identify problematic behaviors and cycles that keep couples stuck and then create hope that their future can be better than it’s ever been.
We offer several specialized types of therapy for couples.
General Marriage related issues – Marriage is one of the most difficult relational challenges one can face. At SOZO, we believe that no one is ready for marriage when they get married. It is only going through the day-to-day process of being married that prepares us. As we experience daily challenges, we sometimes get into unhealthy patterns of relating to each other and need a guide to help work through hurts, pains and stuck places. Each of our couples clinicians has been uniquely trained in family systems theory and have specialized tools to help you continue to grow and move your relationship to a place where it is better than it EVER has been in the past.
Couples Reintegration/Recovery after Sexual Betrayal and/or Infidelity – Recovering from sexual betrayal or infidelity can be a challenging and timely process. Most often, couples therapy will convene only after both partners are in individual therapy to establish stability, emotional regulation tools, and begin healing. The one who betrayed needs to get their individual patterns under control, and the one who was betrayed needs space to process the impact and pain of the discovery. In some cases, couples therapy can begin earlier in the process of recovery. This is often needed when navigating everyday life together is challenging. We strongly recommend working with a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) or a Certified Partner Trauma Therapist (CPTT) after betrayal and infidelity. These therapists are trained to work with the couple to achieve a relationship that is better than it has ever been before.
Problematic Compulsive Sexual Behaviors – Our Certified Sex Addiction Therapists (CSAT) understand the unique challenges to recovering from compulsive sexual behaviors. We work with each client to build an effective and hopeful treatment plan. We believe that long-term sobriety, recovery and a thriving life is possible and work with each client to achieve these goals.
Primary Partner Betrayal Trauma – Our Certified Partner Trauma Therapists (CPTT) understand the very real impact of betrayal trauma because of problematic sexual behavior and infidelity. Therapists at SOZO are uniquely trained to identify and manage betrayal trauma symptoms, help partners achieve safety and stability, and find themselves again after the relationship has been shattered by sexual betrayal.
